Sometimes the romantic idea of destination racing gets quickly un-romanticized after dealing with flying with or shipping your bike. For that very reason, three avid East Coast triathletes started Tri-Cycles, a race-day rental company aimed to take the hassle out of traveling to a race.

They know that triathletes doing longer course races will likely stick to what they trained on, so they see sprint and Olympic-distance triathletes as the perfect fit.

The company has a fleet of 20 2011 Orbea SLTs (MSRP of $3,299) ready for rental starting with Rev3 Quassy on June 5. They’ll be at the following races this year with hopes of expanding out west in 2012:

June 4-5 Rev3 Quassy, CT

June 19 Washington D.C. Tri

June 26 Philly Tri

August 7 Nautica NYC Tri

September 11 Nations Tri, Washington D.C.

October 2 Pocono Mountains 70.3

For those in the New York City area, you also have the option of picking up your bike at Strictly Bicycles in New Jersey or having your bike delivered to your home for $50 each way.
