On June 14, 2010 - A NYPD cop who hit a bicyclist while driving the wrong way on a Brooklyn street was arrested Tuesday - and suspended.

Transit cop Louis Ramos, 42, a 19-year veteran of the force, was charged with assault, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident that left the cyclist badly bloodied with a broken tooth and a fractured nose. Ramos did not call in the incident.

Ramos and his partner, Paris Anderson, were driving north on Jay St.'s southbound lane on June 16 with lights flashing and siren blaring - but there was no emergency, sources said, when they smashed into bicyclist Yuthong Chan, who required stitches for cuts to his mouth and nose.

The complaint says Ramos got out of the car, pulled the cyclist to the curb, handed him a tissue and then drove off without reporting it or calling an ambulance.

Ramos has pleaded not guilty. He has been suspended without pay. The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association declined to comment.

The cyclist was treated for cuts, bruises and a fractured wrist.

Anderson, a six-year veteran of the force,was not charged in the incident, which was caught on a surveillance tape, according to a spokesman for the Brooklyn district attorney's office.

Ramos pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.
