El Bicibox se afianza en el área metropolitana
El servicio de aparcamiento seguro llega a las 1.600 plazas y se ofrece como la alternativa económica al Bicing





Viladecans se suma a la lista de municipios que ya han puesto en marcha el nuevo sistema metropolitano de aparcamiento seguro de bicicletas en la vía pública. Durante la inauguración del Bicibox en esta ciudad se ha mostrado el funcionamiento del servicio.

Los vándalos ya no lo tienen tan fácil para hurtar bicicletas. Al menos, las de aquellos usuarios que utilizan el Bicibox, un servicio público de aparcamiento seguro para bicis privadas que está desarrollando el Área Metropolitana de Barcelona en colaboración con diversos municipios. Se trata de pequeñas cabinas individuales que funcionan en red y están situadas a pie de calle. El sistema se está consolidando con éxito. Actualmente, el Bicibox dispone de mil plazas de aparcamiento en el área metropolitana de Barcelona.

En conjunto, la red Bicibox está formada por 180 estaciones que ofrecen unas 1.600 plazas para bicis distribuidas en 15 municipios del área metropolitana. Los usuarios pueden hacer uso de este servicio en cualquiera de las estaciones disponibles, que funcionan con energía solar y un sistema de baterías. El abono anual cuesta 35 euros y se puede solicitar la tarjeta de usuario mediante www.bicibox.cat.

La última ciudad en sumarse a la iniciativa, pionera en España, ha sido Viladecans, donde se han instalado diez puntos Bicibox repartidos estratégicamente por diferentes sitios de la ciudad, especialmente en las principales estaciones de transporte público. De esta manera se intenta integrar la bicicleta en la cadena de transporte y favorecer la movilidad sostenible. Cornellà, Esplugues, Gavà, el Prat de Llobregat, Sant Boi, Sant Joan Despí y Sant Just Desvern son otros municipios del Baix Llobregat que integran esta red de aparcamiento público de bicicletas.

Bicibox, más económico que el Bicing
Los aparcamientos públicos para bicicletas privadas son la opción asequible para los municipios del área metropolitana interesados en potenciar el uso de la bicicleta en sus cascos urbanos. “El Bicing requiere de una aportación económica importante y las ciudades priorizan otros gastos”, comenta el presidente de la Entidad Metropolitana del Transporte (EMT), Antoni Poveda, quien también reconoce que el Bicibox es “más económico” que el servicio público de bicicletas de la ciudad de Barcelona. Y es que el Bicing requiere de un mantenimiento constante y una plantilla dedicada a trasladar las bicis que lo integran de una estación a otra.

Por su parte, el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona asegura que tiene conocimiento que otros consistorios han apostado por el Bicibox como manera de fomentar la bicicleta como vehículo de transporte. En este sentido, no descarta en un futuro adoptarla si lo considera necesario para la ciudad.
