Andreu Lacondeguy
Ride for life, live to ride – double or nothing!

Hi, my name is Andreu Lacondeguy. My discipline is freeride mountain biking. I was born on 12 January 1989 in Spain. My special talent is pulling tricks on a BMX, then perfecting them for a mountain bike.

Bio
Andreu Lacondeguy is constantly pushing at the boundaries of mountain biking. “I can’t stay calm while riding. I always take risks, so if there are three rounds, I’ll fall in two of them and get it perfect in the last one. I always try to stretch myself to the limit.”

Andreu and his brother Lluis learned their skills and showmanship in California, where they could practise with international stars such as Cory Nastazio. “We all know each other and the atmosphere is great. What’s more, we meet at all the competitions, so if someone comes up with a good trick, you feel happy for them even if they get in ahead of you.”

Andreu was the first man to land a backflip from a snow-covered big air ramp on a mountain bike - at the time, he was one of only three athletes to have landed a double backflip on a mountain bike during a competition. These days, a series high profile wins have helped to establish him as one of mountain biking’s hottest talents.

During the 2012 season, Andreu was a frequent face on the winners' podium. A third place finish at Vienna Air King led to a dominating presence in front of a crowd of 20,000 spectators at the Red Bull Berg Line event in Winterberg, where Andreu took first place. A second place spot at freeride's ultimate showcase, Crankworx Whistler, has also rated highly amongst his achievements, as well as an X Games Slopestyle podium in Munich.

Red Bull Rampage 2013: Athletes Dig In on Day One
By Blake Cable on 9 October 2013 in Mountain Bike Freeride
With shovels and picks flying, the riders scope their lines and start digging into the mountain.
The official Red Bull Rampage build team -- onsite for weeks ahead of the event installing a few select features and handling some of the bigger build projects -- has officially handed the shovels over to the athletes themselves. Each rider is scouting their own line according to their individual skills and style, and the routes taking shape are looking super gnarly.

In the video above, builder and judge Randy Spangler explains the course build process, while Andreu Lacondeguy and Mads Haugen start guinea-pigging lines and kick off the sunset sessions on the step-up.

Watch how it all comes together in the live webcast of finals on Sunday, October 13, starting at 1:00 p.m. MT on the official Red Bull Rampage site.
