Hermida hace balance de su temporada 2014 antes de tomarse unos días de vacaciones.
José A. Hermida ha terminado este año su 18ª temporada como profesional, que es el tiempo que ha pasado desde que se convirtió en Campeón del Mundo junior allá en 1996, en Cairns (Australia). Hoy lunes se va de vacaciones merecidas durante una semana, en la que no habrá bici, y es el momento perfecto para hacer balance del año.
“Ha sido un año correcto en el global. No ha sido mi mejor temporada pero es cierto que sigo estando instalado en ese top 10 mundial tan competitivo. A veces duele no estar luchando por la victoria, pero los años pasan y no paran de llegar corredores con mucho talento. La lucha es muy dura”, comenta el líder del Multivan-Merida.
Entre los resultados más importantes de este año, José destaca los siguientes: “en Copa del Mundo he conseguido subir al podio en dos ocasiones y he conseguido una 7ª posición final en la general. Hago una lectura muy importante de este resultado, destacando mi regularidad durante todo el año. En las carreras con la selección, el 9º del Mundial, pinchazo incluido, me hace sentir muy orgulloso. Venía de hacer bronce en 2013, pero somos muchos los que tenemos opciones a subir al podio”.
Y ya mirando hacia la temporada siguiente, el corredor catalán sigue con “la misma ilusión que cuando empecé. Mi cuerpo está sano y a muy buen nivel y, aunque el paso de los años condiciona ciertas de mis condiciones físicas, también tengo la experiencia y la tranquilidad de conocer este deporte y saber que soy capaz de luchar por cualquier objetivo, porque los he conseguido en mi carrera. Voy a hacer algunos cambios en 2015 en mi preparación para mejorar algunos detalles en mi rendimiento, como la explosividad en las salidas”.
Las vacaciones totales serán apenas unos días, tras lo cuales Hermida ya empezará con el trabajo para la temporada 2015.

Tropical Storm Ana Forms, May Impact Hawaii Late This Week

Rain and gusty winds may threaten Hawaii later this week as Tropical Storm Ana tracks toward the islands.
"Warm water and low wind shear will contribute to strengthening this week as Tropical Storm Ana tracks toward Hawaii," said AccuWeather.com meteorologist Evan Duffey.
Residents and travelers to Hawaii, particularly the Big Island, should pay close attention to the track and strength of this system.

Ana intensified from a tropical depression to a tropical storm late on Monday over the central Pacific Ocean.
"Traditionally, tropical systems struggle to maintain strength as they approach Hawaii from the Southeast," said Duffey. "However, abnormally warm water south of Hawaii could support an organized tropical system surviving into Hawaii."
AccuWeather.com meteorologists think that Ana may be just off of the southeast coast of the Big Island as a Category 1 hurricane early Saturday morning local time.
At the very least, there will be a surge of rain and gusty winds that reach the Big Island later Friday night into Saturday.
Numerous showers and downpours will then expand into the remainder of the islands throughout the upcoming weekend, including in Honolulu. Clouds and rain may linger into early next week as the system nearly stalls over the islands.
