William Whitaker

William Whitaker

William Whitaker is an artist noted for his depiction of the human form, a portraitist who has painted governors, university presidents, CEOs and Hollywood producers, as well as people living day-to-day lives – housewives, children, teachers, ranchers, and businessmen. No matter the subject, his brush captures not only an immaculate likeness but the inner person as well, so that his canvases reveal something deeper than the surface image.

William studied painting at the University of Utah with Alvin Gittins, who was, at the time, one of the two finest living portrait painters. Thanks to Gittins, William was thoroughly trained in the classic techniques of figure painting and portraiture.

Regardless of whether a portrait is commissioned for a government official to be displayed for public viewing or for the enjoyment of a family in a private residence, the work becomes part of the individual’s personal history. Additionally, due to the high quality of materials available to an artist, an oil painting on canvas can be expected to endure for hundreds of years increasing the value and integrity of the work.
