Technical Info & Specifications
Italy's Limar makes the world's lightest helmet. We know because it says so on each side of the new Pro 104, which boasts a weight of 170 grams in size medium. That's 10 grams less than Limar's previous top-of-line model. For U.S. residents, however, the weight is 195 grams due to beefier construction necessary to meet CPSC safety requirements. This still lets the Pro 104 lay claim to the lightweight title. Limar's helmet has 22 vents and -- nice touch -- the ones facing forward have a mesh screen to keep out airborne insects. An easy-to-use dial at the back lets you adjust the head-hugging cradle for a secure fit.
Limar started their quest for a lighter helmet in 1993 with the F104 and have been working since to provide plenty of protection and comfort for cyclists. The latest iteration of that project, the Ultralight Pro 104 features in-mold construction, 22 vents, a bug net, compact & aerodynamic shaping and an ultralight dial adjust sizing system. The helmet meets EU, Australian and U.S. (CPSC) standards.
For 2010, Limar has added a new Pro 104 Ultralight version with a carbon fibre reinforcing plate to lend more structural integrity to the forward vents and to help keep the helmet together during the stringent CPSC testing procedures.
Otherwise, not much else has changed: the high-cut and low profile overall shape is essentially identical, there are the same 22 vents and co-molded mesh netting to keep out bugs, and also a healthy collection of colors. Weight has gone up a bit but is still plenty light at a claimed 195g for the medium size and 215g for the large.
CERTIFICATIONS
Naturally, safety is the most important aspect for you and also for Limar. It’s what it’s all about, protecting your head and that of your children. Limar is one of only a handful of manufacturers throughout the world producing helmets that comply to the worlds three toughest safety standards. Many companies cannot achieve all three. That is Limar's mission to provide you with the safest, best looking and most comfortable helmets that are available today.
