Al menos 28 personas han muerto en un atentado contra el aeropuerto Atatürk, el mayor de Estambul, y hay cerca de 60 heridos, informaron el ministro de Justicia de Turquía, Bekir Bozdag y el gobernador de la ciudad, Vasip Sahin.
El gobernador aseguró a la prensa que la cifra de fallecidos puede aumentar en las próximas horas y que el ataque ha sido perpetrado por tres terroristas suicidas.

Según el ministro, uno de los terroristas disparó contra los viajeros en la terminal internacional y otro se hizo explotar allí, mientras que otro suicida más estalló su carga explosiva en el aparcamiento, situado en la parte europea de la metrópolis turca. Al igual que el gobernador, el ministro habló de tres terroristas, aunque varios testigos indican que fueron cuatro los atacantes. Aún no se sabe nada sobre las nacionalidades de las víctimas en este atentado.

El Ministerio del Interior ha organizado un centro de crisis para seguir la situación y se han cancelado todos los vuelos. Decenas de ambulancias se han desplazado al lugar y según los medios turcos los taxistas han comenzado a trasladar a los heridos a los hospitales.

"Estábamos en el control de pasaportes. Oímos un tiroteo. Eran cuatro personas y empezaron a disparar contra la gente. Entonces se hicieron detonar", relató a CNNTürk la testigo Mine Iyidinc. Otra testigo, Gozde Aydinoglu, asegura: "Escuché primero disparos y entonces una explosión. De nuevo disparos y gente corriendo por todos lados".

An American journalist returning from his honeymoon with his wife has told of his horror after he came face-to-face with a gunman during the Turkey airport attacks.
The extremists spraying bullets into crowds of terrified passengers and security personnel before blowing themselves up, killing at least 41 people and injuring 140,
Nabil's wife was among those wounded in the shooting as she and her husband desperately sought shelter in a store cupboard during the attack.
He was getting pizza when one of the gunman opened fire, forcing him to sprint through the crowd to find his newlywed bride.
