ROUTE
The Ischgl Ironbike offers the perfect challenge for everyone, from beginners through to professional marathon racers at the peak of their form. Bikers
can opt for one of three routes during the race.
RUNDE 1 (Short track 27,5 km, 755 Hm):
From Ischgl to Galtür via Lareinalmand back to Ischgl. Enjoy fantastic scenery and a varied route, which is not difficult despite some trails.
RUNDE 2 (Intermediate track 48 km, 2.057 Hm):
After the short track, the route heads steeply upwards to Idalpe and on to Vellillscharte. From there, riders speed down along the super trail designed by Hans Rey through the Vellil Valley and back to Ischgl. It's great fun, even for bikers with limited technique.
RUNDE 3 (Long track 79 km, 3.820 Hm):
The route splits on the second track above Idalpe (see altitude profile). A steep ascent heads up to the Greitspitze via Idjoch. Enjoy single trails and panoramic views along the Greitspitz and Salaaser trail and head down to Laret and Samnaun. From there, head back to Ischgl via Zeblasjoch, Palinkopf and Höllboden. It's steep, challenging and at high altitudes - it's not called the Ischgl Ironbike for nothing!
Choosing a route:
Everybody must complete the short loop to Galtür and back to Ischgl. Just
before the finish, participants can decide whether they want to continue
with the intermediate or long loop or ride directly to the finish and thus be
judged on their short track performance. The route splits into the intermediate and long loops below Vellilscharte (above Idalp). There, participants can decide whether to finish the intermediate track through the Vellil Valley or to opt for the long track to Samnaun.
Time limits:
11 am: If any riders do not finish the short track by 11 am, they are not permitted to continue on to the intermediate or long track, and are automatically judged on their short track performance.
12:30 pm: If any riders do not reach the point where the route splits into the intermediate/long loops by 12:30 pm, they are not permitted to choose the long loop and must continue with the intermediate track through the Vellil
Valley to the finish.
