SPIN London
Great for doing your hair, not so hot in a cross-wind…
We had a barrel of laughs at Spin London ‘The Urban Cycle Show’ last weekend. It was arguably the most stylish cycle event we’ve been to – certainly the one that offered the most in terms of cycle chic. If anyone was in any doubt that cycling is now cool (whatever ‘cool’ means – don’t ask me) this was the show to win them over. Boneshaker biked over on two well-travelled touring bikes, with all our exhibition stuff packed into panniers. Others had brought van-loads of bike-bling and spotlights. But we like to keep it DIY and homegrown – we’ve always been about imagination rather than image.
Taking over the vast Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, the event attracted loads of Boneshaker’s friends, including bike builders Foffa and Tom Donhou, ethical cycle-wear wizards Veleco, Nathan and the gang from Restrap… it was a whirl. We really enjoyed hanging tough with the hugely talented frame-builders Jake Rusby from Rusby Cycles and Ryan Mccaig from Oak Cycles – although that last beer on Friday night was possibly a mistake. Top chaps!
As ever, we were too busy mucking about to take many photos – bar these blurry phone snaps. Sorry about that.
Anyway, here’s a bit of bike bling from Avenue Cycles (gold brake levers!)…
And an awesome glowing recumbent pedal car thingummy-wotsit:
