Bormio is a northern Italian town situated in the province of Sondrio, Lombardy and close to the Swiss border in the Alps. It’s accessible from both Italy and Switzerland via a scenic car or bus drive, by the train, or by plane and overland transfer.
RACE INFORMATION

The Mortirolo and the Stelvio are two of the most beautiful climbs in the world that echo with the feats of Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani. 2012′s Giro d’Italia saw a single stage take in both of these legendary climbs for one of the most brutal stages of the race. Now for only the third time, the Grandondo Stelvio Santini will allow you to pit yourself against these legendary climbs and follow in the pedal strokes of some of the greatest icons cycling has ever known.

60km, 1950m of ascent The route:Bormio – Sondalo – Bormio – Stelvio.
Open to amateurs (with a valid health certificate stating that you are in good health).

SCHEDULE

GRAN FONDO STELVIO SANTINI START: 7.30am (where: BORMIO, VIA AL FORTE)
TIME LIMIT IN BORMIO (before the start of the Stelvio climb): 2.15pm (where: food stop in PIAZZA DI COMBO, BORMIO)
AWARD CEREMONY: 4pm (where: BORMIO, PALAZZO DEL GHIACCIO)

TIME LIMIT

The time limit is 2.15pm beyond this time the climb of the Stelvio Pass is forbidden.

LOS "MILES" DE ALICANTE

En el mapa que te muestro en este blog, podrás ver marcadas las que he considerado principales cimas de la provincia de Alicante, que sobrepasan los 1000 metros de altura. Hay algunas otras que están por encima de esta cota, pero bien por proximidad a otras o por no tener punto geodésico las he descartado de mi lista.

Con la realización de este proyecto, realmente es cuando me he dado cuenta de la cantidad de montañas que tenemos en la provincia de Alicante, si bién la más alta apenas sobrepasa los 1500 metros, cuantitativamente nos situamos como una de las provincias más montañosas de España.
