Five-time IRONMAN world champion Craig Alexander will have the
spotlight on him this weekend in the unique garden City of Putrajaya,
Malaysia. Alexander should expect to see challenges from veteran Viktor
Zyemtsev and up-and-comer Josh Amberger this weekend.
On the women's side we can watch out for Rebekah Keat as well as Amelia-Rose Watkinson as she continues her remarkable rise in triathlon.
The 23-year-old come out of the Olympic-distance ranks with a victory
in a long distance race in the Gold Coast and stunning third behind
Meredith Kessler and Gina Crawford at the IRONMAN 70.3 Asia Pacific
Championship in Auckland in January. Watkinson, a former professional
field hockey international from Zimbabwe, moved to the U.K. in 2010 in
pursuit of her profession as a physiotherapist. Watkinson took up
triathlon in 2013 and won her age group at IRONMAN 70.3 World
Championship in Henderson, Nevada and the ITU World Championship, before
finishing on the podium in five of her first seven races as a
professional in 2014.
