Learn to ride in one day! The world's only bicycle that automatically keeps the rider upright & stable, even when they tip or wobble.
The quick and easy way to learn to ride
As a child starts to tip or wobble, a Jyrobike corrects the steering and stabilises both the bike and the rider. As a result children can learn to ride without training wheels (stabilisers) and in the majority of cases learn to ride in one afternoon!
When people see Jyrobike for the first time they think it's magic. Actually it is based on the very well known science called gyroscopic precession.
Gradually reduce the balance settings
We have invented a unique Control Hub built into the front wheel that is able to generate a stabilising force that resists the toppling force of gravity.
As their skills improve, you can slowly dial down the gyro (balance assistance) so that the bike does less and the rider does more, until it is eventually turned off.
Encouraging parental coaching
Think of it as a measured helping hand that promotes and actually teaches correct riding skills. Unlike training wheels (stabilisers), we deliberately designed the Jyrobike so that it does not do 100% of the work. It encourages parents to get actively involved and share in the joy of learning to ride. We believe learning to ride is one of life's great achievements, a right of passage that everyone should experience.
Fast track your child’s confidence and skills
All children can't wait to ride a bicycle. However, we haven't met a child yet who looks forward to the learning process. Most find it daunting and sometimes even scary. Jyrobike removes the anxiety and frustration and fast forwards to that wonderful moment of ‘I’m doing it!'
Promotes confident leaning into turns
Our team has been working hard to make sure Jyrobike is the safest and best way to learn to ride. Our years of research show new riders enjoy and like the gyro support, allowing them to turn with ease and comfort.
The potential to help millions of people
Our inclusive design has the inspiring potential to help disabled kids who have never learned to ride a bike or simply find riding a bicycle difficult to master. It offers the possibility for people with mobility, balance and vision challenges to ride a bicycle in a safe and relaxed way.
Jyrobike is built around the idea that a bicycle becomes inherently more stable when it travels at higher speeds. We discovered that if a fast spinning disc is placed inside the front wheel of a bicycle, the resulting gyroscopic force automatically balances the bike. It simulates high speed stability whilst travelling at very slow speeds, which is exactly when a rider needs the most assistance.
In the process, we designed a Control Hub built into the front wheel. It is a battery-powered, rechargeable, motor-driven invention that intelligently drives a spinning flywheel at high RPMs. When turned on it acts like a gyroscope or gyro and provides a stabilising force, working just as gyros do to keep helicopters stable in the air, boats stable at sea and spaceships stable in orbit.
Advanced electronic & mechanical design
Geeky stuff: The principle of gyroscopic precession dictates that counteracting the handlebar movement that follows any lean action will in turn generate a counter force to that of gravity and correct the lean to restore the bike upright.

Why Jyrobike is the best way to learn
The genius behind our technology is that it covertly promotes correct riding technique. It takes the stress out of teaching, eliminates fears of falling and gets the whole family out riding together faster than trial and error, balance bikes or training wheels.

Control Hub Features
Flywheel Control System - Three adjustable balance settings of low, medium and high gives parents the ability to gradually dial down the balance assistance as their child builds confidence and skills.
Micro USB - Charging the Control Hub is a breeze via a standard Micro USB cable and can be done at home or even from your car. Fully charged, the battery will last for approximately 3 hours. It also provides for software updates when connected to a computer.
Mega Sound - Control Hub's are fitted with a Mega Sound feature, a 105dB speaker and a choice of three awesome sound effects for extra fun and smiles.
Removable Mass - The flywheel that keeps Jyrobike stable can be removed from the Control Hub once kids are confident on their bike. Once removed, it reduces the weight of the Control Hub by 60%. The flywheel can be re-installed anytime to teach riding skills as and when needed.
Parents are in full control
Jyrobike can be adjusted via a remote Wireless Controller allowing parents to change balance settings so the rider learns without the anxiety of announcing that the balance settings are being reduced.
Our aim is to enable as many people as possible learn to ride
Backers of this project are more than just consumers and investors. You will be directly contributing to research that could help millions of people around the world enjoy the freedom and the excitement of learning to ride a bicycle for the first time.
20 minutes on a Jyrobike and Caitlin was riding a bicycle
Over the course of this project we have organised a number of user testing sessions. One such event was with Caitlin (pictured above), who has a form of developmental coordination disorder called Dyspraxia affecting her gross motor coordination. Caitlin is 8 years old and has difficulties with writing, swimming and riding a bike. Caitlin is also one of the most amazing little girls we have ever met. Caitlin’s mum got in touch and spoke about how she has been trying to teach Caitlin to ride for the last 5 years - without success. We invited Caitlin to our office car park and this it what happened next:
The original Jyrobike invention emerged from a undergraduate project at Dartmouth, Thayer School of Engineering in the U.S between 2006-2008. A group of four students conceived the idea and developed a working model.
The early prototype was brought to market under a licence agreement by another company called The Gyrobike Inc who successfully sold 10,000 units. A few years later, Rob Bodill acquired the global patents from the original inventors and a new company was formed in 2013. Rob established a global research and development program to develop a vastly improved version-2 product and in the process patented four new inventions, which is where we are today.
