ESPECTACULAR TEST CON 100 CLAVOS EN LA CÁMARA FOSS

Foss es una de las soluciones más ligeras y eficaces contra pinchazos. Destaca por su peso notablemente más ligero, por garantizar una vida útil más larga y por contribuir al respeto del medioambiente en su proceso de reciclaje.
Fabricadas a base de un compuesto 100% TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), ofrecen una respuesta excelente frente a todo tipo de pinchazos. Al realizarse una perforación causada por un objeto punzante, la cámara forma un sello hermético instantáneo alrededor del objeto que minimiza la pérdida de aire con gran eficacia. Esto permite seguir circulando con normalidad con el pincho incrustado hasta finalizar el trayecto sin tener que detenerte a cambiar de cámara o reparar el pinchazo y hacerlo además con plenas garantías.
Otra de las características que la diferencian es su baja densidad de tan sólo 0.88 g/cc, lo que las convierte un 30% más ligeras que las cámaras convencionales de caucho.
En Foss también han cuidado el diseño y la estética de su producto. Un claro ejemplo de ello lo encontramos en su válvula fina, con un acabado anodizado azul con el logo impreso.
También cabe destacar el compromiso de la firma con el respeto por el medioambiente, ya que estas cámaras son totalmente reciclables y además no emiten gases tóxicos en el proceso de incineración, algo que sí ocurre con las cámaras convencionales.
Finalmente, la marca también ha diseñado un kit de cómodos parches de rápida aplicación, sin necesidad de utilizar colas adhesivas adicionales y con un resultado efectivo e inmediato.

Julien Absalon’s BMC Double Threat has a trick up its sleeve ahead of this weekend’s XCO World Cup.

Julien Absalon is perhaps the greatest racer to ever throw a leg over a mountain bike and in his new BMC Double Threat, he has a machine capable of bolstering his glistening CV even further.
Absalon is a rider who trades in raw power and as a result has often elected to race hardtails whilst his competition has been taming the ever more technical UCI World Cup tracks on full-suspenion machines.

Now though, he no longer has to compromise because the Double Threat uses cutting-edge carbon fibre technology to offer 15mm of rear wheel travel without necessitating the added hardware of a rear shock and pivot.
There's an elastomer unit built into the top of the seatstays, which, when coupled with specially designed flexing chainstays, allows the BMC to smooth out the bumps. Three grades of elastomer are available to choose from.

Electronics continue to appear more readily in the XCO ranks, and Absalon's BMC features Shimano's top of the line XTR Di2 groupset. Cleverly, Sylvain, Absalon's mechanic of three years has rigged up the electronic lock-out on the Fox Racing Shox 32 FLOAT Factory Series fork to run off the drivetrain's battery, and then stowed it all away tidily inside the seatpost.

"Julian runs between 1.4 and 1.5 bar in his tyres depending on the conditions," Sylvain adds. "The wheels are braced at the spoke junctions too. With the 29er spokes, they're that bit longer so this helps with the stiffness. Julien runs 2.2in Continental Race Kings in the dry, X-Kings if it gets wet and there are 1.8in Mud Kings if the weather is really bad."

The Fox fork also makes use of the new Kabolt 15mm front axle. Developed with Canadian XC star, Geoff Kabush, the axle replaces the quick release assemble for a simple screw-in-screw-out system via an 8mm Allen key. It's lighter and that's what counts!

"Julien runs a 34T chainring, he doesn't change that often," Sylvain says. "Some riders might shift down to a 32T for Albstadt but Julien likes to stick with 34T because that's what he trains with and he's used to it. The rear cassette is 11-speed and features an 11–40T range."

The carbon fibre chainguide is custom-made by BMC for the race team and mounts on the front mech bosses. Normally, with this single-speed set-up, you wouldn't need to run a guide but it weighs so little that the team go for safety and use it in competition.

Hermida ha sido 21º en la Copa del Mundo de Albstadt (Alemania)
José Antonio Hermida ha competido hoy en la segunda Copa del Mundo del año. Tras su 10º puesto en Nove Mesto la semana pasada, el corredor de Multivan-Merida salía con ganas de meterse de nuevo en el top 10. "El circuito es muy diferente al de la semana pasada, pero me encontraba bien para luchar por estar en la misma posición que en la República Checa", comentaba tras la carrera.
Pero la jornada de hoy no ha sido tan positiva como podía esperarse: "no he conseguido meterme en ningún momento en el grupo delantero. Rodaba sobre el puesto 15 en la primera vuelta, pero la carrera se marchaba por delante. Es un circuito muy exigente, estrecho y donde hay muy pocos lugares donde adelantar. Me he quedado cerca de la posición 20 y no he podido luchar por nada mejor. No estoy contento con el resultado, pero a veces las cosas no salen como uno espera".
Así ha sido la jornada del Campeón de España tras 2 semanas fuera de casa donde, además de competir en estas dos Copas del Mundo, ha estado muy ligado a la presentación oficial de la nueva Merida Ninety Six.
