El duro recorrido de Andalucía Bike Race 2013

30 NOVEMBER 2012

The hard route of Andalucía Bike Race 2013

30 NOVEMBER 2012

400 kilometres and more than 13,000 metres of vertical climbing! Over similar terrain and distance as the previous editions, the route of the third edition of Andalucía Bike Race shows 2,000 metres more of climbing. The inclusion of Bedmar and Mancha Real, as stage start and finish venues, the reduction of stages in Córdoba in favour of Jaén and a time trial that will close six magnificent days of mountain biking, are other highlights.

The routes, key in the exposure and growth of this competition amongst the mountain bikers, search for the maximum amount of singletracks and cross spectacular landscapes, being its contrasts other of its strong points.

Córdoba will welcome all the riders and host the two first stages. Sierra Morena is a tangle of flowy trails and fun singletracks. Two days in which the toughness will be determined by a winding terrain, with continuous changes of rhythm and technical stretches. Also due to the intense pace that will be set by the participants, still fresh.

The third stage will remain in the province of Córdoba but will move to Priego de Córdoba. The Subbética Sierra will be the introduction of the “high mountains”, with longer climbs. Immediately after the stage, all the event will settle in Jaén, where the last days of competition will be faced.

The first day in Jaén (stage four), will take place between Bedmar and Mancha Real, crossing Mágina Sierra. The fatigue will start to be noticeable amongst the riders, who will face a long day, with a lot of climbing, characteristic that will also occur the following day.

The fifth stage which will start and finish in Jaén, will be determinant. Without going far away from the city, demanding stretches such as Siete Pilillas, San Cristóbal and Jabalcuz will be faced. Jaén, at higher altitude than Córdoba and surrounded by big mountains, usually offers lower temperatures, especially at the highest summits.

The last stage will be a time trial, a new format in Andalucía Bike Race, which promises to be an exciting ending to the competition. The riders take the start in opposite order to the general classification and so lots are expected to gather at the finish line. The stage, short, intense and with many singletracks, will leave all the riders so fatigued as satisfied.
